Those who take people safely to the top shouldn't have to be on their own.

EMCH Aufzüge AG protects nearly 100 employees in installation and service with Uepaa.

For over 140 years, EMCH has been ensuring that people and goods move up and down reliably. The traditional Bern-based company stands for individual elevator solutions, Swiss engineering, and the highest quality standards.

But safety doesn't end with the people who use an elevator. It begins with those who build, install, and maintain it.

That is why EMCH relies on Uepaa to protect its employees. Following the successful rollout in the installation department, the service team is now next. This will secure a total of nearly 100 employees.

Swiss elevator expertise since 1880

EMCH Aufzüge AG develops and manufactures custom elevator systems at its headquarters in Bern. From planning and in-house production to installation, modernization, and long-term maintenance, the company combines all expertise under one roof.

Whether it's a demanding special system, a passenger lift, or the modernization of existing equipment: EMCH focuses on tailor-made solutions.

The installation teams operate throughout Switzerland. The service organization also maintains elevator systems from various manufacturers and ensures rapid assistance in the event of malfunctions with its 24-hour on-call service – 365 days a year.

When your workplace is between floors

Working conditions in the elevator industry are demanding. Installation teams work on construction sites, in elevator shafts, and on technical equipment. Service technicians often work independently, performing maintenance or fixing malfunctions directly at the customer's site.

This creates situations where employees work alone at times – sometimes outside of regular working hours. Especially in elevator shafts, machine rooms, or locked technical areas, direct contact with other people is limited. Often, there is also no mobile network coverage.

This is where Uepaa provides additional safety: with the "One-Time Check" feature, work can be secured even in areas without network coverage. If the agreed-upon check-in is not received on time, an alarm is triggered. Additionally, an on-site contact can be integrated into the alarm chain – for example, a person with access to the building or the technical system.

First installation. Now service.

EMCH has opted for a phased rollout of the Uepaa Safety App. The installation staff were the first to be equipped. The service organization will follow in early November 2026. With the completion of this second phase, nearly 100 employees will be equipped with the mobile safety solution.

The Uepaa Safety App accompanies professionals directly on their smartphones – whether on a construction site, in a technical room, or during a late-night service call. The solution supports lone worker protection in accordance with Suva leaflet 44094 and offers, among other things:

  • Automatic accident detection via dead-man function
  • Protection for work without mobile coverage via One-Time Check
  • On-site contact as a supplement to the alarm and rescue chain
  • 24/7 emergency call center with organized rescue services
  • Direct peer-to-peer assistance

This is how employee protection can be integrated into existing workflows.

Safety for people. Inside the lift and beyond.

EMCH uses lift emergency call systems to ensure that trapped passengers can request help. With Uepaa, this commitment to safety is extended to the people working behind the scenes to keep lifts running smoothly. After all, it’s not just passengers who should receive help in an emergency; it’s also the professionals who work every day to ensure their safety.

By equipping its installation and service teams, EMCH is making a clear statement about protecting its employees. We would like to thank EMCH Aufzüge AG for their trust and partnership. We wish the entire installation and service team continued safe and accident-free work.
