Energie- und Wasserversorgung Appenzell (EWA) builds, operates and maintains network systems at grid levels 5 to 7. The EWA distribution network comprises a string length of 105 kilometers in medium voltage and 482 kilometers in low voltage, as well as 116 transformer stations and 343 cable distribution cabins.

It also creates, operates and maintains its own drinking water supply. EWA's supply includes a spring water collection, a groundwater pumping station and three reservoirs.

So whether it is a network electrician, well master or materials manager in the fire department depot, or whether it is electricity metering or water analysis, the team led by plant manager Patrick Haltmann is always on duty. Working alone cannot be avoided. In order to meet the legal requirements for working alone even better, the Uepaa app has been used since this month. Standstill detection calls for help if the employee himself is no longer able to do so. In areas without reception, such as water wells, transformer stations and distribution cabins, the one-time check also protects.
